At Strasburg Family Dental, we are committed to providing our patients with excellent, affordable dental care. We serve Strasburg, Bennett, Byers, and surrounding areas in eastern Colorado.  Our team brings a personal-touch to customer service, quality care and has the experience and skill-set to meet the dental needs of your entire family.
Doctor Douglas K. Whetten is the head of staff at our practice.  We pride ourselves on our unique business model--delivering optimal, quality dental care to people of all ages and walks of life, while also taking a pro-active approach to dental health, through building relationships with our patients.  Our practice, formerly known as the Dentist of Colorado, has been serving eastern Colorado for over twenty years.  Through kindness, understanding, outstanding work and gentle touch, we have built a rapport with our many loyal patients who know they can count on us. We are proud to serve multiple generations of families in eastern Colorado, and love getting to know new patients.

About Dr. Whetten

Dr. Douglas Whetten is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.  While in dental school, he was awarded the Annual Certificate of Merit by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.  As a general dentist, Dr. Whetten enjoys working with children and adults and he strives to make each visit as care free and effective as possible.  He takes every opportunity to expand his knowledge and expertise through continuing education and training in the latest dental procedures and techniques.
Dr. Whetten cares for people and recognizes the concerns most of us share when contemplating a visit to the dentist.  Because of his easy going and caring approach to dentistry, Dr. Whetten's patients enjoy a pleasant experience when visiting our office.
Dr. Whetten realizes the importance of being comfortable and informed when making treatment decisions. He takes the time to explain his recommendations and answer dental questions and concerns.  He also appreciates the value that a little bit of humor can add to the process of visiting the dentist.

TIFFANY AVEY | General Dentist

Dr. Tiffany Avey joined Strasburg Family Dental in the fall of 2024. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Avey practiced dentistry in Oregon for several years before returning home to Colorado. She values building long-term relationships with her patients and believes in providing compassionate, comprehensive care, making Strasburg Family Dental a wonderful fit. Dr. Avey enjoys serving a close-knit community and helping patients feel comfortable and confident in their dental health. Outside of the office, she loves spending time with her husband and new son.

JULIE NELSON | Front Office Coordinator

Julie is always here to help our wonderful patients with scheduling their appointments and carries out the day to day administrative functions at Strasburg Family Dental.

SKLYAR ELLIOTT |  Dental Hygienist​

Skylar is a proud Strasburg local with a lifelong passion for dental hygiene that began at just 8 years old, inspired by a kind childhood dentist who encouraged her curiosity and love for patient care. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Metropolitan State University of Denver before graduating with honors from dental hygiene school in 2014.

With a strong love for small-town values and private practice, Skylar brings both expertise and heart to everything she does. Outside of work, she’s a devoted wife and mom of two who loves spending time outdoors camping, hunting, and making memories with her family.

JONIE MACLENNAN | Dental Hygienist

​  Jonie joined our team in September 2025 and brings 17 years of experience as a dental hygienist. She has spent the majority of her career working in a community health center, where she developed a strong passion for building meaningful patient relationships and earning trust through compassionate, high-quality oral care.
​Originally from Indiana, Jonie has called Colorado home since 2008. She enjoys spending time with her husband and four children and values the strong work ethic and dedication she developed growing up on a ranch. Jonie is known for her kind, positive, and approachable demeanor, making both patients and team members feel comfortable and well cared for  ​

NATALIE KIRKBRIDE| Dental Assistant

Natalie joined the office in September 205 as an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant.  Natalie  began her dental career in 1999. With decades of experience, she is passionate about helping patients feel at ease, overcome dental anxiety, and restore healthy, beautiful smiles. Outside the office, she’s a proud mom of three boys and enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, playing bass guitar alongside her husband, and cuddling with her Pug and French bulldog.
